Assistant Principal Corner

My name is Dr. Alexis Jarman McKeel, and I am thrilled to serve as your Assistant Principal at Richlands Elementary this year. I am a proud product of Richlands having attended school here from kindergarten through graduation.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in math and English from East Carolina University in 2018, followed by a Master’s in Middle Grades Education in 2019. In 2022, I completed my Doctorate in School Administration and Supervision from Liberty University, and in 2025, I earned my Education Specialist degree in School Administration along with my Superintendent’s License from ECU.

I began my career teaching middle school math and Math 1 in Pitt and Martin Counties for 4.5 years before serving as an Assistant Principal in Beaufort County for the past three years.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy playing tennis, watching ECU football, spending time with my husband Will and our three dogs—Macy, Levi, and Merle—and volunteering at our church.

I am excited to return back home and give back to the community that shaped me. I am looking forward to an amazing year at the greatest place on earth!
